FTI Consulting Wins Four 2014 Global Competition Review Awards
Dennis Carlton Named 2014 Economist of the Year by Global Competition Review

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., April 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: FCN), the global business advisory firm dedicated to helping organizations protect and enhance their enterprise value, today announced that the firm's subsidiary, Compass Lexecon, has won four 2014 Global Competition Review ("GCR") Awards, which recognized the achievements of teams and individuals from private practice firms, corporate legal departments, economic consultancies, academic organizations and competition authorities in 2013.

Compass Lexecon professionals were honored in the following categories:

  • Matter of the Year – Global: For the US Airways/American Airlines merger.
  • Merger Control of the Year – Americas: For the Office Max/Office Depot merger.
  • Behavioral Matter of the Year – Americas: For the defense of Visa/MasterCard before the Canadian Competition Tribunal.

In addition, Senior Managing Director, Dennis Carlton was recognized as the 2014 Economist of the Year. Dr. Carlton was honored for his superior technical skills, practical judgment and excellence in client service for his work on the US Airways/American Airlines merger, as well as his testimony in Toshiba's victory against Best Buy in the LCD antitrust litigation. Dr. Carlton has more than 35 years of consulting experience and has served as an expert witness in numerous domestic and foreign cases involving issues in antitrust, contract damages, regulation and intellectual property. He is also the David McDaniel Keller Professor of Economics at the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago where he teaches in the Business School, Law School and Economics Department. The GCR Economist of the Year Award was previously presented to Compass Lexecon's Jorge Padilla in 2012 and Janusz Ordover in 2011.

Nominees for the 2014 GCR Awards were submitted by GCR readers and finalized by GCR journalists. The winners were determined through an online vote by GCR readers, and announced at the GCR 4th Annual Awards Ceremony, in Washington, D.C., on March 25, 2014.
