FTI Consulting, Inc. Announces Continued Expansion of its Ringtail(R) Global Electronic Discovery Platform
|
New Technology Empowers Corporations and Law Firms to Quickly Index, Search and Cull Large Data sets at the Beginning of the Electronic Discovery Process
NEW YORK, Feb. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- LEGAL TECH 2008 -- FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: FCN), the global business advisory firm dedicated to helping organizations protect and enhance their enterprise value, today announced a series of significant enhancements to its Ringtail document review technology, most notably the addition of the Ringtail(R) QuickCull(R) module for early case assessment and pre-processing. The Company also announced a business and technology partnership with X1 Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of user-centric desktop and enterprise search solutions.
Ringtail QuickCull
Ringtail QuickCull, electronic discovery software from FTI -- powered by X1 Search -- allows users to index, search and cull large data sets prior to processing and review which saves time at the beginning of a matter.
"With Ringtail QuickCull, FTI Consulting has developed a framework to alter two critical discovery factors: time and cost. The positioning of Ringtail QuickCull for collection, pre-processing, culling, triage review, and data export dramatically streamlines the most time and technology intensive facets of document collection and production without compromising integrity," said Joe Perkovich, associate at Dorsey & Whitney LLP. "Ringtail QuickCull is able to capture and index content faster than counsel can be expected to address it in most cases."
Faster and more efficient than outsourcing the initial review or relying on a set of multiple pre-processing technologies, Ringtail QuickCull offers search and review capabilities for comprehensive culling within hours of collection.
"Corporate IT departments and their legal counsel require technology that allow them to identify, preserve and collect electronically stored information within the corporate network, thereby reducing the expense of sending all information to outside processing vendors," said Vivian Tero, program manager, compliance infrastructure, IDC. "FTI's dedication to evolving the Ringtail product suite in this direction shows it is listening to and meeting the evolving needs of the marketplace."
Ringtail QuickCull is Unicode compliant for the acquisition and management of material in most languages and exports into most standard formats.
"FTI developed Ringtail QuickCull to help meet our clients' need to take charge of the initial phases of electronic discovery," said Cuong Do, senior managing director at FTI Consulting. "By claiming ownership of the process from the beginning, firms are able to carefully select the data reviewed by an outside vendor in advance -- thus potentially saving thousands of dollars per matter."
X1 Technologies Joins Expanding FTI Partner Network
FTI also announced today a partnership with X1 Technologies, producer of X1 Search, and a leading provider of desktop and enterprise search solutions.
"X1 has strong interoperability with critical business systems, especially messaging and email management systems, and provides a single, consistent interface for interacting with all enterprise data," said Cuong Do. FTI will now offer X1 Enterprise Search solutions as an important part of its end-to-end technology suite.
"Clients look to FTI for the best solutions for managing electronically stored information across the enterprise and we're honored they chose X1 as a partner and our products for inclusion within their suite of technology offerings," said John Waller, President of X1 Technologies. "Ringtail customers are required to manage millions of documents on a daily basis and X1 products are perfectly complimentary as they provide a secure, unified view of personal and IT managed content found throughout the enterprise."
Other Significant Ringtail Platform Enhancements
FTI also released other significant enhancements that expand the Ringtail On-Premise platform to meet the demands of end-users and administrators. Those enhancements include:
-- Ringtail Processing Framework(TM) -- providing a central point from which Ringtail administrators can manage heavy processing tasks that are distributed across multiple servers. Processing tasks include content indexing, data exchange and document processing. The Ringtail Processing Framework facilitates rapid system capacity and efficiency increases as case sizes, number of cases and number of users grow. -- Ringtail OCR-on-the-Fly(TM) -- offering an on-demand optical character recognition (OCR) feature for reviewers. The feature is massively scalable, and offers detailed reporting and status notifications for OCR tasks. -- Ringtail Data Exchange(TM) -- allowing users to rapidly import and export large document populations from the Ringtail user interface, boosting performance by as much as ten times. Significantly, the Ringtail Data Exchange will support the complete set of Ringtail metadata, greatly enhancing the migration of documents between Ringtail cases and integration with third party tools. -- Ringtail Analytics(TM) -- providing critical leverage for lawyers by producing detailed, defensible information about the content and structure of a document collection. This is essential information for early and accurate case assessment. Using a cube-based dashboard, Ringtail Analytics provides the ability to create statistical reports to "zoom" into document sets, thereby pinpointing relevant data faster, and to monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of document reviews.
