FTI Consulting Launches Managed Services, Including Legal Review, for Microsoft Office 365
Provides End-to-End E-Discovery and Information Governance from within Office 365

WASHINGTON, April 24, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE:FCN) today announced the Company’s Technology segment will provide e-discovery and information governance managed services within a client’s Microsoft Office 365 tenant. For organizations on Office 365, FTI Technology’s expert e-discovery professionals can access the company’s data via the cloud and use Office 365’s Advanced eDiscovery features for the entire e-discovery process, from preservation and collection through to first-pass review. By keeping the data within the client’s Office 365 tenant, FTI Technology clients can reduce the cost and risk of e-discovery.

“As one of the first providers to offer these managed services in Microsoft Office 365, FTI Technology is fortifying its reputation for innovation,” said T. Sean Kelly, a Senior Director in the Information Governance & Compliance Services (“IG&CS”) practice at FTI Consulting. “By combining the Office 365 Advanced eDiscovery features with our expert managed services, we are helping to reduce the cost, time and risk of e-discovery.”

The FTI Technology managed service team, building upon years as a leading global provider of both forensic investigations and managed review, employs defensible methodologies to access the client’s Office 365 cloud tenant via VPN or SAML with login credentials. Depending on the client’s needs, the FTI Technology team can help establish and execute retention and legal hold policies, conduct the complete e-discovery process – including legal review – and perform ongoing information governance audits.

“Companies often use multiple software applications to handle discrete steps within the e-discovery process, from collection to processing to review, and these handoffs can increase the cost and risk of e-discovery,” said Jake Frazier, Leader of the IG&CS practice and a Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting. “Microsoft Office 365 streamlines this by providing e-discovery features across the entire EDRM (‘Electronic Data Reference Model’), to be used on the data where it resides.”

With the advanced features offered by Office 365, such as Advanced Data Governance and Advanced eDiscovery, FTI Technology’s managed services team can quickly search and analyze data stored in Microsoft Exchange Online, Microsoft SharePoint Online, Microsoft OneDrive for Business and Skype for Business. Redundant data is easily identified and put aside with near-duplicates detection and email thread analysis. With predictive coding and relevance features, relevant documents are quickly found and prioritized for first-pass review. If additional rounds of review are needed, the FTI Technology managed services team can export the documents with coding decisions to traditional legal review platforms.

In addition to Office 365 managed services, FTI Technology can help Office 365 users with:

  • Data migration: Safely migrate data from legacy archives to Office 365 while active cases are underway.
  • Data remediation: Defensibly delete redundant, old or trivial (“ROT”) information to reduce cost and data breach risk.
  • Legal hold: Update policies and ensure existing holds are maintained during the migration.
  • Data privacy: Adhere to data privacy regulations impacting how and where sensitive information is stored and transferred.

“No matter where a company is in its migration to Microsoft Office 365, or even if it’s still considering the move, the legal team should play a key role,” said Chris Zohlen, a Managing Director in the IG&CS practice of FTI Consulting. “We’ve helped organizations evaluate and implement Office 365 in line with their particular legal and regulatory requirements, and we believe our managed services offering provides additional advantage to further reduce the cost and complexity of e-discovery and information governance.”

FTI Technology’s IG&CS team, which includes professionals with experience deploying Office 365 within Fortune 1000 companies, addresses key corporate data challenges with safety and defensibility by mining, storing, migrating and disposing of corporate data. In addition, IG&CS has expertise designing and implementing defensible e-discovery and information governance policies that are cost-effective and do not disrupt business operations. FTI Technology has been recognized as a leader in information governance software and services across the legal industry, including acknowledgement from the National Law Journal, Corporate Counsel and Computer Technology Review.
