WASHINGTON, June 26, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE:FCN) today announced that Laura Jackson, a Managing Director in the Business Tax Advisory practice within the firm’s Real Estate & Infrastructure industry group, has been honored by the 2018 New Jersey State Governor’s Jefferson Awards for her extraordinary contributions to Rebuilding Together NYC, a nonprofit organization that promotes safe and healthy housing throughout New York City. She was recognized at a June 2 awards ceremony at the War Memorial in Trenton, N.J.

The Jefferson Awards is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious recognition program for volunteer and public service and is the official recognition program of the U.S. Senate. The New Jersey State Governor’s Jefferson Awards is the local program for The Jefferson Awards and serves as the official recognition of the Governor’s Council on Volunteerism.

Ms. Jackson has been active on Rebuilding Together NYC’s board since 2013, when she joined as Treasurer of the Executive Committee. She currently serves on the board as Vice President, chairs the Fund Development Committee, co-founded and co-chairs the annual Coming Home Gala and is a member of the Audit Committee. She also co-founded the annual She Builds event, a women-in-real-estate-led initiative designed to bring visibility to the women, children and families in New York City who comprise most of the homeless population, yet are often excluded from narrative around the issue. In addition, Ms. Jackson has played a significant role in developing relationships and funds for the organization, which provides free home repairs and community revitalization for low-income residents and neighborhoods.

A Florham Park, N.J., resident, Ms. Jackson specializes in the REIT and partnership area of real estate taxation, providing expertise in due diligence, structuring, REIT compliance, §754 adjustments and partnership taxation. She developed FTI Consulting’s REIT due diligence tax group, which now serves numerous public and private REITs. She also has extensive experience with deal structuring, creating §704(c) models and handling complicated domestic and international tax compliance for numerous large public and private real estate clients.

Ms. Jackson graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in business administration from Monmouth University and obtained an M.S. in taxation from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She is a Certified Public Accountant in New Jersey and a member of the AICPA, NJSCPA, NAREIT, NAIOP, YM/WREA and CREW New York.
